Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Southport, and Bald Head Island Inshore and Backwater Fishing is Good!!! The inshore and backwater fishing around the Cape Fear area has been good over the past couple of weeks. There have been a couple of tough days mixed in, but we have still managed a few fish on those days.

Flounder, Redfish, Black Drum, Sheephead, and Big Blues in the inshore and backwaters of Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach, and Southport!!! We have had some fun fishing the inshore and backwaters of the Cape Fear area recently. The fishing is showing some good signs of picking up with catches of red drum, black drum, a few flounder, and whiting. The sheephead, bluefish, speckled trout, spanish mackerel, and other nearshore and inshore species are not far behind.

The redfish bite has slowed since my last report. We are still picking up a few fish on Gulp Alive Shrimp, DOA soft plastics and live mud minnows on float rigs and carolina rigs. We have finally got a break in the weather and the water temps are rapidly coming up. There have been some beautiful days to be on the water lately with highs in the upper 60’s and low 70’s. The redfish should soon be getting in their spring patterns and speckled trout, black drum, whiting and
