Light Tackle Sightfishing on the Shallow Water Flats, Backwaters, and Creeks of the Lower Cape Fear – 1 to 4 Anglers
This type of fishing is some of the most exciting the Cape Fear Backwaters has to offer. Buzzard’s Bay is the favored body of water to sight cast for Redfish. The oyster bars and shallow flats act as some of the primary areas that play host to these fighting fish. Sightfishing involves quietly searching for large schools of Redfish by using the trolling motor. We will be looking for wakes that are created by swimming redfish, redfish busting bait, redfish tailing, or mud clouds caused by redfish beneath the surface. All of our boats are shallow draft boats equipped with trolling motors and Power Poles that can access and effectively fish the flats, backwaters and creeks where these schools of Redfish roam. We will need calm conditions or light winds for this charter. If the wind picks up we can still sightfish the creeks for redfish and also fish for speckled trout, and flounder. Normally we will depart from the Ft. Fisher Boat Ramp and fish the Buzzard’s Bay area.
We charter out of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington, Southport and Bald Head Island. Seahawk Inshore Fishing Charters offers a wide variety of charters to meet your fishing needs. It’s a great way to spend time on the water with family and friends fishing the inshore, nearshore and the backwaters of the Cape Fear area.
More and more people are discovering the benefits of inshore calm water fishing in the protected waters of the Cape Fear area. With a wide variety of species to fish for and the diverse bodies of water there is normally a lot of action. Whether it’s sight casting to redfish in Buzzard’s Bay, to live bait fishing for large flounder in the Cape Fear River or Snow’s Cut, to throwing artificial lures to speckled trout in the creeks. Captain Jeff Wolfe can put you where the fish are.
